Sunday Morning Worship
On an average Sunday morning our services begin at 10:30 AM. Worship is the time we honor God who created us and gives us life. As we gather, we sing, pray and greet one another. We listen to God’s guidance to be given through the choir anthem, scripture, and the pastor’s expositional preaching. We respond to God’s love through prayer, offering gifts, and by dedication ourselves in service to each other, the church, and the community.
Worship at Zion has a definite plan and structure, but the atmosphere is casual and informal. If you have a Bible, you may want to bring it, since the preacher will be referring to it frequently. Most people will be dressed comfortably, anything from smart casual to suits. Music includes traditional hymns, praise chorus, and gospel songs. The goal of worship is that people be drawn into an experience of God’s love and grace. The service is usually about an hour and a half long. Newcomers are always welcome.
Some of our attenders enjoy taking notes on the sermon, which can help you remember the details or remember if you have questions about the sermon for the preacher after the service. People tend to hang around and talk to one another before and after the service, so please take the time to get to know other attenders while you're with us. We pray you will have a great time meeting with Christ Jesus as you worship with us!
Children in Worship
Children come to worship for the first 15 or 20 minutes and have their own special time with the pastor. They are excused to the Sunday School room, where they learn Bible stories, play, read, share snacks or do projects under the care of trusted adults. Older children normally stay and listen to the sermon. Nursery care for infants and toddlers is available during the entire worship service, although some parents prefer to keep their babies with them in church.
Communion
We serve holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month immediately after the worship service/ We serve grape juice, rather than wine, so that we might include children as well as those working to maintain sobriety. We offer open communion for those who have been saved and are members of the body of Christ Jesus.
Baptism
Baptism are schedule in consultation with the pastor and are celebrated during the worship services (except in special circumstances when medical needs dictate other arrangements). We children, youth, and adults upon the confession of their faith in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior in water by immersion.
Weddings
Weddings are reserved for believers in Christ because their foundation is grounded in the steadfast love and faithfulness of God. We are happy to conduct wedding ceremonies for couples who are active in the life of the church, whether through service, worship, fellowship, or all of the above. Please feel free to contact the church office about your wedding plans.
